Scot Seats finding solutions for Parker RIBs

One of the many projects Scot Seat has recently worked on is helping to improve the comfort and safety of seating with Parker RIBs.  Last year Scot Seat announced their association with SKYDEX and since then have gone on to work on a number of projects, incorporating these cushion inserts into boat seating.

The SKYDEX cushions are ideal for retro-fitting on seats that cannot be replaced with full shock mitigation seats, such as bench seats used for storage on the rear or front of a boat, or they can be incorporated into a full shock mitigation seat which provides the user with the ultimate in protection and comfort.

Unlike foam seat cushions that compress under user weight, SKYDEX Cushion Inserts do not load significantly until impact, maximising shock absorption effectiveness. Scot Seat use different types and thicknesses of SKYDEX product to match different seating solutions.

Scot Seat has supplied SKYDEX to the current Parker UK demo RIB, a Parker 800 Baltic, which has been fitted with twin Mercury Diesel 170 HP stern drive engines.

Andre Scott, Director at Parker RIBs commented; “The SKYDEX padded cushion feels firmer and my first impression was that there would be no difference from my original seats. It was a flat day out in the Solent when I first tested the cushion, and the first wake proved how wrong I was. For sure a much softer ride.”

In addition to the seating with SKYDEX inserts, also featured on the Parker RIBS craft is SKYDEX Impact Mitigating Boat Decking. Lightweight and easily integrated, with an unbeatable traction surface, SKYDEX’s boat decking products stabilise and protect in all conditions and have been trusted by the US Navy and armed forces around the world for over 15 years. SKYDEX Impact Mitigating Boat Decking is perfect for situations where shock mitigation seating cannot be fitted or to compliment shock mitigation seating on vessels used in the most extreme conditions.

Scot Seat will be exhibiting on stand PG89 at Seawork International show, Southampton 3-5 July, and will be demonstrating the SKYDEX products incorporated into their range of shock mitigation seating.
